The Line

A few months ago I decided to support a friend, who you can follow here, and signed up for my very first marathon. Since that time I have been a bit distracted with some life issues and another upcoming race, all of which I will tell you about at some other time. Unfortunately this means I have not spent much time preparing for the marathon.

It is time to get serious! I now have 13 weeks remaining. That should hopefully be enough time. My goal is to go sub-4 hour and maybe even something much loftier (hint, hint). I am an over-achiever, what can I say?

I will not be following a traditional marathon training plan, which has you running tons of mile at a long, slow pace. Instead I will be utilizing a plan provided by Endurance Nation, which is a virtual coaching community for triathlons (more about this tremendous group and my over-achieving nature later).

As part of the plan, I will be running 4 days a week, biking (hard) 3 days a week and performing one brick a week. Having gone through the plan once this winter, with less running focus, all I can say is that it is going to be one TOUGH summer. Regardless, I believe in the EN coaches and know that they will get me to were I want to be.

I just have to be willing to do the WORK!
