December 2010
1 post
It is now December 1. I have managed to waste away a whole month of training. It is time to get serious! In less than 6 months I will be completing Ironman Coeur d’Alene, my first triathlon. In addition, in 4 months I will be riding the Tour of California with a huge group of my peers. I am determined to complete both of these events, even if it kills me. Tomorrow starts the adventure of a lifetime.

When are you to old to follow your dreams?
Everyone either knows someone or has heard the story of someone who has followed their dream, and achieved great success. I typically don’t pay much attention to these types of stories. Not that I don’t care, but I am generally happy in my life and what I have accomplished. So I don’t let these stories of grandeur cloud my vision or make me lose focus on my goals, until TODAY!...

Tour of the Catskills
The American Zofingen Long Course, which I successfully completed earlier this year, was an extremely tough course. 5 mile trail run, followed by 84 hilly miles on the bike, followed by another 15 mile trail run (3 loops of the first 5 miles). This race pushed me to my limits physically, but I felt mentally strong through the entire race. I mean I never once thought, well maybe a few times, that I...

Let's go racing!
This weekend will be my third race of the season. So far this year I have completed the American Zonfingen Long Course, a hellish duathlon in the lower Catskills and the New England Ragnar Relay, where 11 friends and I ran for 32 hours straight from Yale to Harvard for a total of 192 miles.
This time I am returning home. I will be racing the Tour of the Catskills, a 3-day bicycle race through the...
Guns, Kids and Parents
Guns. What can I say? Like many children I grew up playing Cowboys and Indians or cops and robbers. It got me outside and out from under my parents feet. They were happy, I was happy.
Over the years I have developed a strong opinion about guns. I HATE them. So much so that I don’t allow them in my house in any form: toy guns, video games, etc.
I am not sure why the strong aversion. I have...

First Marathon
A few months ago I decided to support a friend, who you can follow here, and signed up for my very first marathon. Since that time I have been a bit distracted with some life issues and another upcoming race, all of which I will tell you about at some other time. Unfortunately this means I have not spent much time preparing for the marathon.
It is time to get serious! I now have 13 weeks...
